GC Music » Piano and Cinematic

Because the piano is one of the world's most versatile instruments, it appears in multiple styles of music. Greg Slawson and Candice Lee perform all of these dynamic pieces which include classical, jazz and ambient styles that work well with cinematic images.

The Vancouver area is surrounded by unparalleled beauty. This music was inspired by the waterfalls, ferns, streams, lakes and rocks in and around the city's green belts.
image icon Dusk (3:53)
This selection conjures up images of mystery and intrigue. Imagine a hot, sultry night at dusk and take it from there as you listen to this provocative track.
image icon November Day (8:34)
This piece is inspired by a warm November afternoon in New York City's Central Park. The park is a peaceful oasis, seemingly isolated from the fast pace of life that bumps up against its borders. Feel free to listen to this piano solo sample. The end of this track contains nearly 4 minutes of meditative synth, reflecting the calm mood of sitting at the edge of The Lake inside the park.
image icon Heart Creek (6:28)
Nestled in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, just outside of Banff, sits the coolest little hiking trail that traces the Heart Creek. This music is inspired by the crystal clear water and peaceful setting.
image icon Etude-tableau Op.39, No.2 in A minor (5:51)
Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Études-tableaux Op. 39, No. 2 in A minor represents “The Sea and the Seagulls,' a description suggested by his wife. This is from a set of “picture pieces” which was his last major work composed before leaving Russia due to the 1917 Revolution – never to return. Performed by Candice Lee.
image icon Stebbins Gulch (7:19)
A hidden gem in Northeast Ohio, Stebbins Gulch is a place of peace that provides a tranquil escape from the nearby urban and suburban environment.
image icon Vocalise (6:01)
Enjoy this rendition of Rachmaninoff's classic melody for piano solo performed by Candice Lee. The arrangement is by Alan Richardson.
image icon Poissons d'or (3:47)
Check out this sample of Candice Lee performing Claude Debussy's intriguing composition that comes from his second book of 'Images.' Poissons d'or translates to 'Goldfish.' Listen to the incredible textures that emanate from the piano which create the effects of water.
image icon Impromptu in F-sharp Major (3:09)
Here's a beautiful piano selection by Franz Liszt. Candice Lee performs this work which begins with undulating waves of notes before building to an exciting climax. The music works really well for relaxing or as a soundtrack for natural scenery.
image icon Autumn River (5:34)
Inspired by autumn in the Cuyahoga River Valley, this blend of piano, strings and water sounds creates a peaceful soundscape. This music accompanies one of our Water Films that has the same name.
image icon Old Man's Cave (2:53)
Old Man's Cave is a mysterious place nestled in the rock formations of Hocking Hills, Ohio. Legend has it that a hermit, Richard Rowe, lived with his two dogs in the large cave in the early 1800's. Rowe lived out his life in the area and is believed to be buried beneath the ledge of the main recess cave. This piece features strings, oboe and light percussion.
image icon Danseuses de Delphes (3:02)
Debussy wrote two volumes of piano preludes. 'Danseuses de Delphes' is the first prelude from Book One. Check out Greg Slawson's recording of this subdued, but expressive piece. This music accompanies one of GC Creative Studio's Water Films entitled, 'Autumn Spirit.'
