GC Music » Jazz and World Groove

The jazz and world groove collection at GC Creative Studio includes a variety of songs that are inspired by great natural spots in North America. The selections have a contemporary flavor as they mix elements of world percussion with acoustic jazz instruments and electronic drums. Take a musical trip to Hawai'i, the Canadian Rockies, Sedona or national parks as you check out these unique compositions which are composed and performed by Greg Slawson.

image icon Path to Cedar Falls (3:32)
This track is inspired by the path that leads to an unusual waterfall in beautiful Hocking Hills, Ohio. Indian and African percussion accompany the trio of piano, bass and drums.
image icon Ledges (4:32)
Visits to Whipps Ledges in Hinckley, Ohio and Virginia Kendall Ledges in Peninsula played a role in inspiring this world/jazz piece that blends African and Indian percussion with piano, bass and synth.
image icon Furnace Run (3:24)
Every April, the Furnace Run Daffodil Trail in Richfield, Ohio shows off a variety of colorful blooms. This wooded trail is peaceful and inspiring. Greg Slawson was inspired to write this laid-back jazz tune as he walked the trail.
image icon Bow Valley Evening (4:16)
The Bow Valley, located in the Canadian Rockies, is stunning in winter. This laid back piece depicts a quiet late December evening in downtown Banff. Light snow is in the process of blanketing the town and the twinkling holiday lights.
image icon The Feel of Autumn (3:42)
Located just south of Cleveland, Ohio is the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Fall colors and mild temperatures make the park a great place to recharge your spirit. This tune reflects that beauty and foreshadows the eventual transition to winter.
image icon Wailua (5:08)
Wailua is the name of a famous waterfall and the only navigable river on the island of Kauai. This selection combines an acoustic jazz trio with electronic percussion to create an exotic groove.
image icon The Iris (4:34)
This track incorporates Indian tabla and wordless vocals along with drum set and an array of electronic grooves. The iris is one of Greg's favorite blooms in the spring garden. Enjoy this unusual combination of world instruments with piano and contemporary beats.
image icon Kaua'i Mood (4:28)
Imagine white sand, bright sunshine, blue waves crashing onto volcanic rocks and tropical flowers. The mood of the island of Kauai can be experienced in this tune.
image icon Red Rock Crossing (3:26)
This feel good track illustrates an oasis along the Oak Creek in Sedona, Arizona. Check out this unique combination of piano, bass and guitar with African shakers and a Middle Eastern Ghaval.
image icon Angel Falls (3:18)
Venezuela's "Angel Falls," known as the waterfall of the deepest place, is the world's largest waterfall. This selection features piano, drums, bass and world percussion. Written and performed by Candice Lee.
